So Ahab went to eat and drink, But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. 1 Kings 18:42 NLT

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised). Hebrews 10:23 KJV

Dear Pray-er,
Last week we talked about being alone with God. Many people are not comfortable when it’s quiet. But great people, spiritually mature people cherish quiet seasons because those are precious times for clarity, re-centering and laying hold. One with God is majority indeed. It’s good to have people lifting you up- it’s also important to have alone times of travail. We receive strength to travail in prayer.

Today, we take a second key:
Focus:- Prevailing prayer is focused, requiring pressing. We often find people come to prayer with many points, and that’s great, but with prevailing prayer you only need to have one pressing need, one area you have an overwhelming desire to see a change in per time. And it doesn’t have to be about your needs. Like Elijah, God could be laying another’s burden on you. In Elijah’s case, he was praying for the rain, not because he needed it- God had him sorted. Elijah was travailing in prayer for the nation of Israel that had been in drought for three and half years. After the sign came, the king went up to eat and drink, but not Elijah- he went up to pray.

Stay and pray, until you get your answer of peace, you hit the gushers or you sense the opposition lift- this could also come by way of clarity and specific steps. You go to prevailing prayer with your journal and pen to take note of your encounters in prayer.

While we are praying, we maintain focus and intensity with tongues, strong utterance and we release our faith via our seeds. Focused prayer is not done while scrolling, watching TV, or responding to people. By refusing distractions and insisting on that one thing- applying prayer pressure (James 5:17), we release power to break bonds and turn things around.

Next week, we conclude the series with one more key to staying through in prayer to breakthrough.

I look forward to prayers today at
